Leading in Student Education Development

This programme of development is aimed at staff who hold a leadership role within Student Education. Particularly useful for those leading in specific areas but who do not have a team to lead (examples include- but are not limited to: Assessment leads, SALIPs, Student Success leads, Decolonising leads, Belonging leads, Employability leads, Academic Integrity leads). The aim is to introduce and strengthen core leadership areas directly relevant to your Student Education leadership roles.

Objectives of the programme

  • To provide flexible content that can be accessed at point of need
  • To create peer learning opportunities for your leadership community
  • To contextualise leadership theory to the specific challenges of your role.
  • To build confidence in using leadership skills within your role

Overview of the programme of development

The programme is built around three themes:

  • Understanding the system (understanding how your role fits in the wider landscape)
  • Influencing others and building consensus (building connections, networks, and consensus building)
  • Presence and authenticity (values, strengths, and confidence)

For each of these themes there is:

  • A workbook to support self-directed learning
  • A workshop to support peer-based learning on the practical application of leadership theory

We recommend you complete each workbook before you sign up for the corresponding session. The themes have been designed for you to work through in the order they are listed but this is not essential.
