How have you have supported others to develop their practice?

Having started my own Pedagogical Research Group in Physics I have supported staff and PGR students to develop research methodology to evidence and understand student learning and development. I also work with UG students in their final year project or through summer scholarships to undertake activities and research to impact the student experience and develop their own vision and creativity. As DSE for many years I have worked with all staff in the school to explore innovative practice in skills delivery, real world assessments etc. And in response to the Covid pandemic I explored the use of Gradescope software to devise effective methods for remote assessment, running training events for staff across campus help them envision how they could use it in their school.

What are your current student education interests/new developments?

I am a current LITE fellow, running a project on Belonging and Engaging for Successful Transition ('BEST'). This is in collaboration with 6 faculties and is exploring the impact of these crucial factors for students to feel confident and empowered to succeed in higher education. My other interests are in the learning technique of Spaced Repetition to build deep learning, rather than cramming for exams. I am also passionate about understanding how students approach career planning, to help them develop strategy and resilience to achieve their goal for their onward journey after graduation.
