Senior Fellowship

Senior Fellowship (D3) is awarded to professionals who demonstrate they meet the criteria of Descriptor 3 (D3) of the Professional Standards Framework (PSF) for teaching and supporting learning in higher education.

You can apply to be a Senior Fellow through our internal Advance HE- accredited PRiSE scheme.

The SFHEA qualification recognises an individual’s impact on others in developing student education. As a Director of Student Education (DSE) you inspire, support and coach your colleagues every day to collectively improve and develop the student experience and success in your School – it is easy to lose sight of this impact as the list of things to do seems endless. The SFHEA offers a valuable opportunity to step back and reflect on what you do and how you do it. It enables you to reflect on your leadership impact and to articulate the influence you have on others. Personally, this is something I found hugely rewarding and helped me to think deeply about how I lead and what difference it makes. In relation to career opportunities, gaining the SFHEA qualification has helped me with being elected to national education committee chair roles and in promotion applications. The PRiSE Team here in the University offer excellent support and mentorship towards the SFHEA and I would highly recommend any DSE to take up this opportunity.

Senior Fellows are recognised for their influence and impact on their colleagues’ student education practice. They each have a breadth of knowledge and expertise covering all dimensions of student education - design, delivery and assessment – and exemplify inclusive and evidence informed approaches in developing and evaluating education.
