Outstanding and innovative teaching at Leeds will be recognised in a prestigious awards scheme.
Applications are now open for the University of Leeds Teaching Awards 2025 , celebrating excellent practice in student education.
Now in their fifth year, the awards have continued to grow, with submissions almost doubling last year. The high standard of applications received in previous years is reflected in the national recognition many of our winners have gone on to achieve for their teaching.
Open to everyone involved in teaching or supporting the student learning experience, winners will receive an award of up to £2,000 each for professional development and scholarship.

2025 Awards Categories
There are four categories of award:
Early Career University of Leeds Teaching Award – For colleagues with up to five years’ experience of teaching or supporting learning in higher education (up to three winners, each receiving a £2,000 award)Sustained Excellence University of Leeds Teaching Award – For colleagues with more than five years’ experience (up to three winners, each receiving a £2,000 award)Early-Stage Collaborative Excellence University of Leeds Teaching Award – For teams in newly established collaborations of up to three years (up to two winning teams, each receiving £500 per contributor up to a maximum of £4,000)Sustained Collaborative Excellence University of Leeds Teaching Award – For teams in more established collaborations of more than three years (up to two winning teams, each team receiving a £500 award per contributor up to a maximum of £4,000).
Applications are open to all colleagues who satisfy the following criteria:
You’ re an employee of the University of Leeds (colleagues from either faculties or professional services can apply)
Your role involves teaching or supporting the student learning experience
You must be able to demonstrate exceptional impact in student education
You apply before the specified deadline
Winners of the ‘Sustained Excellence’ and ‘Sustained Collaborative Excellence’ categories will also gain access to guidance and support provided for the National Teaching Fellow and Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence schemes.
The closing date for applications is 5pm on 14 March.
