How have you have supported others to develop their practice?

  • Set up teaching Awayday focusing on Assessment practices and TEF.
  • Mentored and inducted new lecturers in processes and practices of teaching at University of Leeds. This involved supportive discussions, lesson observations, and setting up workshops dedicated to teaching & learning.
  • Mentored colleagues in applications for Fellowship/Senior Fellowship in PRiSE, applications for LITE, and applications for promotion.
  • Encouraged colleagues to engage in the Teaching Enhancement Scheme e.g. via peer observations, discussion and re-design of assessment(s) and assessment criteria.

What are your current student education interests/new developments?

  • Practitioner research (specifically Exploratory Practice) whereby students and teachers investigate issues that puzzle them about learning and teaching.
  • Ethics - ethical dilemmas and issues involved in researching education.
  • Teacher education - the processes + practices of initial language teacher education and sustaining continuous professional development (CPD) Wellbeing and burnout of teachers (and learners).
