How have you have supported others to develop their practice?

As an academic supervisor on the PG Cert in Clinical Education, I help healthcare professionals develop as clinical educators. I have also published a number of educational research papers on a range of topics including how we define and assess the competence of qualified healthcare professionals.

What are your current student education interests/new developments?

I am Programme Lead for Independent and Supplementary Prescribing. This course is accredited with three different professional regulators the General Pharmaceutical Council, the Nursing and Midwifery Council and the Health and Social Care Professions Council. One of my primary responsibilities is ensuring that the teaching and assessment of the programme meet the educational standards of these professional bodies as well as ensuring we produce high quality safe and effective prescribers. My main education interests are the development of assessment instruments for Independent Prescribers including OSCEs and portfolios.
