Celebrating our PGCAP Graduates 2022

Celebrating Excellence

Congratulations to 11 of our University of Leeds colleagues who have graduated from the University’s  Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP).

They have all taken part in the course designed to reflect and enhance their teaching practice and to deliver a pedagogical research project. As a result, they have also been awarded AHE Fellowship (FHEA) and, more practically, they continue to experience the impact of the programme on their student education practice.

The following colleagues have all graduated from our PGCAP and been awarded AHE Fellowship (FHEA):

  • Dr Sadegh Azizi - School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering
  • Samantha Earl - Lifelong Learning Centre
  • Dr Boshuo Guo - School of Design
  • Barbara Kempf - Leeds Institute of Medical Education
  • Anja Komatar - Learning Development Team (Library)
  • Dr Farha Lakhani - School of Computing
  • Imelda Marhsall - Leeds Institute of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Medicine
  • Dr Joao Goncalves Faria Martins - School of Mathematics
  • Rachael O'Connor - School of Law
  • Dr Sjoerd de Ridder - School of Earth and Environment
  • Dr Muhammad Kashif Shehzad - School of Civil Engineering

PGCAP Programme Leader, Victoria Taylor, said:

"Once again the PGCAP team are very proud of our newest graduates from the programme.  Their hard work, enthusiasm and continued dedication to student education deserves our warmest congratulations.

Each graduate has been on an individual journey of reflection about their practice, alongside a collaborative exploration of multiple approaches across student education within the supportive community of practice they built together.  Both aspects have challenged and enhanced their practice, and long may the impact of these discoveries continue!

It has been a pleasure working alongside these colleagues and we already miss the insightful thoughts and honest reflections they have shared with us throughout the programme."

The PGCAP is a post-induction programme for University of Leeds staff who make a significant contribution to Student Education at Leeds and has been running since September 2018. Its success is bound in the commitment and engagement demonstrated by the staff members who have undertaken the programme. We have had colleagues from across the University participate, with both varied experience and diverse disciplines, sharing their practice and learning together and from each other over the duration of the course.
